A small molecule, not a peptide, sold alongside them. It blocks the enzyme NNMT in fat tissue. The data is mouse-only — there are no human trials.

Overview

Fat cells contain an enzyme called NNMT that consumes NAD building blocks and helps the cell store energy rather than burn it. 5-Amino-1MQ blocks that enzyme. In obese mice, blocking it raised NAD levels inside fat tissue, shrank fat cells and reduced body weight without changing how much the animals ate. Nothing equivalent has been run in people, and it is worth being clear that this is a quinolinium salt, not a peptide at all.

No. It is a small-molecule quinolinium salt. It is listed alongside peptides because it is sold through the same channels, not because it shares any chemistry with them.

Has it been tested in humans?

Not in any registered clinical trial. Every weight-loss result you will see quoted comes from mice, and mouse obesity models translate poorly to human weight management.
