An eight-amino-acid extension of Argireline marketed as a more potent topical expression-line treatment. Evidence is supplier-generated.
The best-known "topical Botox" peptide. It does have a published mechanism and some small clinical studies, but the effect size is modest and the trials are industry-run.
Botulinum toxin stops muscles contracting by cutting a protein that nerve endings need to release their signal. Argireline is a short peptide that mimics part of that same protein and gets in the way of the machinery assembling, without cutting anything. The effect is far weaker than the injected toxin, and the harder question is whether a peptide applied to the skin surface reaches the muscle underneath at all.
Acetyl hexapeptide-8 (Ac-Glu-Glu-Met-Gln-Arg-Arg-NH2), mimicking the N-terminal region of SNAP-25. Competes with SNAP-25 for a position in the SNARE complex, destabilising vesicle fusion and reducing catecholamine and acetylcholine release at the neuromuscular junction in vitro. Topical delivery to the level of facial musculature is the principal limitation — the peptide is hydrophilic and larger than the generally cited stratum corneum penetration threshold. Small industry-sponsored studies report reductions in wrinkle depth on the order of 10–30% over 4–8 weeks by image analysis; independent replication with blinded clinical endpoints is sparse.

It targets the same machinery, but the comparison is generous. Botulinum toxin is injected directly into muscle and enzymatically destroys its target. Argireline is applied to the skin surface, competes reversibly, and has to cross the stratum corneum to reach anything relevant. Reported effects are small.
